Base stands (sold separately) are made of durable 4.4 cm (1³/₄") thick, tubular, glacier white, epoxy-coated steel. The height of base stands is fully adjustable from 69.9 to 85.1 cm (27¹/₂ to 33¹/₂") in 2.5 cm (1") increments. Base stands with fixed feet come with leveling feet for use on uneven floor surfaces. Base stands with casters include four 12.7 cm (5") non-marking casters. The accessory shelf for telescoping base stands hooks onto the lower rear horizontal cross member of the stand and provides space for miscellaneous accessories and apparatus. Hydraulic stand height is infinitely adjustable from 64.8 to 85.1 cm (25¹/₂ to 33¹/₂"). Height adjustments can be made any time on hydraulic stands. Caster kit adds mobility to the hydraulic lift base stand. Solid epoxy dished work surfaces (recommended for operation) are also available. IV bar supports intravenous solution bottles and bags.
The angled sash provides closer, more comfortable viewing than vertical sashes and has a working sash height of 24 cm (9⁷/₁₆"). It pivots upward and locks to a loading height of 50.8 cm (20"). The front-mounted blower and light switches are located within easy reach of the operator, and two utility ports allow passage of tubing and electrical cords through the back.
Variable speed blowers with solid-state speed control maintain proper air velocities. A diffuser, located at the top of the work area, stabilizes the airflow through the work area and protects the surface of the HEPA filter from possible damage from apparatus inside the enclosure, while a rear exhaust grill minimizes air turbulence in the work area. A prefilter traps large particles to extend the life of the HEPA filter, which removes 99.99% of all particles >=0.3 µm, and an aerodynamic airfoil allows filtered air to sweep the work surface, promoting ISO Class 5 (FED-STD-209E Class 100/M3.5) conditions. In addition, a front-mounted Minihelic® pressure gauge monitors differential pressure across the HEPA filter.
Tempered safety glass sash and side panels provide a naturally illuminated work area. A fluorescent light is located outside of the work space for easy access, and an optional UV light may be used in conjunction with surface disinfection to ensure thorough decontamination while the cabinet is unattended. On models with a UV light, a single three-way switch powers the fluorescent and UV lights, but only one can be on at a time. Models with UV light also have a variable digital timer that provides continuous or timed UV light exposure in intervals of 5, 10, 15, 30, 60, 120, and 240 minutes and a UV protection panel that allow the sash opening to be closed while the UV light is on and prevent contaminants from entering when the clean bench is not in use. An optional built-in Guardian™ airflow monitor continuously monitors airflow and alerts the user to velocities outside of the preset range through LED and alarm indicators.
