Cholera toxin has a single A subunit surrounded by five polypeptides chains of the B subunits

Useful for studies involving adenylate cyclase, AMP, membrane-transport phenomena and for tissue culture applications. The A subunit catalyzes the ADP-ribosylation of the α-subunit of G-proteins, reducing intrinsic GTPase activity and activating the α-subunit. The B subunits are responsible for the attachment of the native toxin on the cell surface.
